EDOUARD COLOMBO / AFFILIATI

Affiliati is a creation of Matteo Peducci. A philosopher would call Affiliates “a device”: a work of art that produces other works of art, reflections, relationships and dialogues between people. Of all people, not just artists. Affiliati is an open box, a space of freedom, in which ideas and attitudes can emerge and become different artistic forms. We are a group of innovators who love classicism, aware that we can only be truly contemporary if we are not afraid of tradition.

Workshop

It will be an opportunity to experience the fusion between art and spirituality, influenced by AI on our perception of the sacred. This will spark reflections on AI and our perception of magic and the spiritual. As Walter Benjamin describes technology as a limit to the magical aspect of an object, this experience could perhaps be a counterexample.Concretely, I will invite participants to express one or more questions about their spiritual and personal concerns, using a poetic and symbolic formulation, and to ask them to the oracle. Then, they will reflect on the meaning of the answers in their lives and in their depths.

PAOLO FERRAGUTI

I was born, live, and work in Milan and around the world. I am a Western esoteric, an expert in divinatory arts and the “subtle realms,” and a composer of electro-acoustic music. I work with elemental spirits associated with the elements to create energies capable of purifying and enhancing energies. From the East, I have learned shamanic arts, meditation, and the “non-dualistic” concept. I work with my hands, with fire, tarot cards, crystals, and sound.

Workshop

In each of us, multiple symbolic representations coexist, and due to certain life experiences, it may happen that some of them prevail over others, unbalancing the individual in terms of attitudes, behavior, and daily choices. It would be intriguing to hypothesize that each of us is born under the sign of a specific animal, meant to indicate tendencies and lifestyles to adopt in order to live in accordance with the laws and rhythms typical of the nature that has been designated for us. Due to certain subjective experiences over the course of life, each of us gradually moves away from their natural birth style to assume different animal characteristics, both in terms of behavior and physical traits. Rediscovering the animal within our depths is a powerful method of self-discovery.

DUCCIO MARIA GAMBI

His work, often focused on concrete casting and experimentation, goes from bespoke furniture pieces for private clients to research led one-off designs for design galleries as well as site specific interventions. His work in stone and plastic laminate won the Cedit prize at Miart 2017 and is now part of Triennale Design Museum permanent collection. He’s now based in his hometown Florence.

Workshop

The workshop is based on three moments: 1. Entering the other’s body and through his body entering the way in which the other occupies space in the world: By fixing the participants in a waiting position, each person studies his own position , the position of all his limbs, the expression of his face. he will then “sculpt” his partner in his own image and likeness. once sculpted, the companion will slowly begin to activate his new body and discover space through it, immersing himself in the sculptor’s way of being. Our body and our position are the result of an attitude. 2. Project yourself into a story through an object: Objects are selected, everyone chooses one according to an instinctive choice. The object becomes an emotional and narrative activator. 3. Binding the body: Multiple people can be united by defining a composite body that will discover how to move, what its ability to interact with others and with space can be.

PAOLA TASSETTI

Paola Tassetti works in the field of landscape research, with temporary installations, surreal paintings, digital art and collage, material painting, screen printing and Erbe drying. In 2016 you exhibited at the Milan Triennale and subsequently at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington. In 2017 she exhibited her paintings “Condotti Anatomici” at the Fenice in Trieste and at the Mauto in Turin. In 2018 she presented the alchemical installation “Conserve Globulari” at the IAAD in Bologna and she collaborated with D-Repubblica as a Botanical Artist.

Workshop

The reverse anatomical symposiacus has the full will to search for internal landscapes and pour them into external ones. Inverse because it turns its eyes inward, to the invisible organs and the interior landscapes of the spirit. This workshop is practiced to “create soul”. You will choose a sheet from an ancient textbook (flowers/mushrooms/biology) following your own nature and animist memory. Then, following your aptitude, you will go on to draw, write, trace grids over the drawings with the desire to associate yourself with a primordial form, a flower, a mushroom, a leaf, a mineral. subsequently we will move on to anatomy through Vesalian anatomical masks, real autonomous systems for rereading the landscape that will help us reconcile with the internal organs.

EMAN RUSS

I work as a content creator on Instagram. I tell what happens in Italy and around the world using images and especially photomontage as the main communication tool. My work ranges across different fields, from artistic to journalistic. Many times I find myself having to make a careful selection of the topics to discuss in relation not so much to their importance but rather to their “attractiveness” for my community.

Workshop

My workshop consists of each of us pretending to be the editor of a newspaper. We will have at our disposal a lot of news extrapolated from the last few weeks (from the war in Israel, football betting, the Esselunga commercial, the war in Ukraine, etc.). Each of us will have an A3 sheet of paper and a pen and we will have to set up the homepage of our hypothetical newspaper. For each piece of news we will have to invent the most click-hunting title and position the news in the sheet in order to entice our readers to click on it. We will have 30 minutes available at the end of which we will see whether the main news selected is the same for everyone or not. Everyone will then motivate their choices.

MARIANA MARTINI

With 10 years of experience in architecture behind her, the Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro, Mariana Martini, has always been fascinated by the ability of spaces to be modified and designed. In recent times, her studio has won 4 Architecture Awards and she also becomes an Archiproducts Ambassador. Mariana being very present on social channels, she has also become ambassador of Young Women Network, the first association in Italy dedicated to the empowerment of young women.

Workshop

We will meditate on our lives, sitting in a circle but facing outwards. Begin the workshop with an introductory session that explores the concept of personal identity. Discuss what it means to have a sense of self and why it is important. She reminds you that personal identity is a deeply personal and often emotional topic. Let’s look back at some memories, guided by questions. I will ask participants to create vision boards that represent their ideal self and future identity. This visual representation can serve as a source of motivation and reflection. Participants can set personal development goals related to their identity. Encourage them to think about how they can become more aligned with their true self and not bend to current trends, for example.

SARA RICCIARDI

She was born in Benevento 31 years ago, among peacock feathers and many books, and now lives and works in Milan. She is a multifaceted designer who studied in Milan, Istanbul and New York. Her approach is characterized by a deep narrative exploration: each aesthetic derives from a specific story. The form follows the message. At the basis of her method there is great poetic and formal research.

Workshop

IkebanaBodyShadows – The art of making your shadows flourish. I would like to propose a laboratory that investigates the composition of the shadows of one’s bodies like blooms in the dark. The mystery and deception of transformation. In the night we can play with magic and mystery. Compose your own chimera with materials recovered in the villa and in the countryside. And show yourself in the night in a theater of the shadows of the self. The workshop lasts a couple of hours – the collection must take place during daytime and then the story must instead take place with Faro light and white fabric to be hung at night time in complete darkness.

NICOLAS DENINO

Nicolas Denino was born in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1985. Since 2022 he has settled back in Milan: he continues his research in the field of painting, sculpture, ceramics and, more generally, in the world of design, through collaborations with design companies and study and production stays in Morocco. The central crux of the artist’s research arises from the study of the different flows of energy arising from specific colours. In general, his activity ranges from two-dimensional works (canvases) to three-dimensional works (shaped canvases, sculptures, glass works) up to in-depth studies on the material role of color (concretions). Blue, white and black shape liberated forms from supports to constitute (and build) independent sculptural compositions.

Workshop

The “Sense of Community” workshop was born from the research carried out for the “Antitesi” pictorial series created in 2021. The main intention is to reflect on the sense of community. For me, painting circles represents a sort of meditation in which my energies flow: a psychomagic ritual. Every single circle I paint represents a human being. The set of circles therefore represents a metaphor of community or new forms of coexistence. Physical contact is the only way to break down the isolation of human beings. Through the practice of painting, each participant will have to paint 10 circles within a single paper support. Each circle embodies a presence. This creates the experience of being together that each participant will be able to keep with them.

 AUTUMN #2022

7-9 november 2022 reincanto  : find your inner light in turin

3 DAYS TO CELEBRATE THE POWER OF THE SUN AND ITS LIGHT, WHICH DOESN’T COME ONLY FROM OUTSIDE BUT IS INSIDE OF US. HOW TO REACTIVATE THAT BRIGHT SPARK? MAGIC AND REALITY ARE AWAKENING. SHADOW AND LIGHT ARE LIFE. TRANSFORMATION IS ECOSOPHICAL REVOLUTION. RETURN TO CYCLING. ONE OF THE PRIORITIES OF THIS RESIDENCE IS TO TALK ABOUT “PERSPECTIVE”. TO DO THIS, AN INITIAL STAS IS NECESSARY THAT THROUGH A MULTILATERAL VISION LEADS TO COMMUNION BETWEEN REASON AND IMAGINATION, A SUM POWERED BY DAILY RITUALS THAT WE WILL EXPERIENCE. REINCANTO IS FOLLOWING THE SIGNS FOR A REAL PREGNANT OF DREAMS AND FANTASIES. AS IN ANY RESIDENCE ORGANIZED BY VGO ASSOCIATES, ALSO ON THIS OCCASION IN COLLABORATION WITH VIRGO EVERY PARTICIPANT IS SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF THE WORKSHOP PROPOSED TO FORM A GROUP OF 10 PEOPLE. THE WORKSHOPS ARE 30 MINUTES PER PARTICIPANT WHO WILL FIND OUT AT THE SAME TIME TO BE TEACHER AND STUDENT, AS THEY HAVE TO ACTIVELY FOLLOW ALL THE WORKSHOPS OF THE REST OF THE GROUP.THE OBJECTIVE IS TO SHARE A PERFORMING AND EXCITING EXPERIENCE. A UNIQUE MOMENT OF SHARING ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC THAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO COVER. THE GENERAL THEME THAT IS PROPOSED WITH THE AUTUMN RESIDENCE, THIS TIME IS THE SUN.

IAMMI

IAMMI is an artistic duo born from the collaboration between Portuguese designer Nicolau dos Santos and French- Italian art director Stephanie Blanchard. IAMMI experiments with shapes and materials, creating open editions, unique creations and collaborations with artists. IAMMI’s provocative and iconic style focuses on the idea of re-imagining everyday objects, playing with their meaning and significance, with the object and the subject. IAMMI’s intention is to unveil a side, an undiscovered aspect of something we already know everything about, thus proposing a metaphorical challenge that aims to investigate in depth. IAMMI’s works blur the line between classic and contemporary.

Workshop

Each group will build a giant origami (the base will be a 2.5m x 2.5m photographic backdrop). Since the size of the origami is imposing, the group will find itself physically collaborating from the beginning for the success of the shape. The goal is in fact to create a connection between the participants right away.

VALENTINA GAIDO

Valentina Gaido (1989) works between Communication and Art Direction. Founder of Virgo, mystical studio and boutique based in Turin, where she researches and connects brands that develop products in relation to symbolism and esotericism. She is the author of the book “Demoni Torino”, a contemporary journey into the most unpublished and hidden esoteric Turin, published by the Psiche2. In addition, she makes installations for private events and exhibitions.

Workshop

Un-Real Magic

Each participant will be given an object considered “non magical”, objects used in everyday life.Every participant will make it magical through a performative act. This act must be recorded by the participant in a video taken with your smartphone with a duration of 1minute.Every video must have a close up of the object inside and the performance act that will make it magical. All the “mini” videos will be edited in a short film by me from the duration of 14minutes.The title will be “un-real magic”. UN-REAL MAGIC will immerse the viewer in a conceptual and constructed vision generated by our own creativity in order to transmit the concept: magic is always within us and that what we see is not always what we actually have.

LUCREZIA GENTILI

Lucrezia Gentili aka corallsea is a 26 year old Italian artist living in Turin, Italy. Her main inspiration is a mix of music, poetry and nature, mainly translated into the collage technique. She participated in two philosophy residencies, where she connected her love for art, poetry and philosophy to food, thus creating moments that differed from the simple act of “eating”, but created situations of high sharing pathos content.

Workshop

Starting from the concept of prayer before meals, the workshop I propose is a poetic reinterpretation that transmits to each participant the emotion of the journey that will be done together.

CAMILA CAMPOS

I was born in 1993 in Brazil and despite being very attached to my origins, since I was a child I have lived around the world discovering fascinating cultures. From Brazil I moved to Morocco, to then go to Argentina, Turkey and ten years ago I finally decided to create roots in Italy. My nomadic life experience has taught me to face every barrier and challenge, in different environments and situations. Imagining a path, overcoming obstacles, finding solutions, admiring the smallest details that surround me. I learned never to look at the ground while walking, to see the beauty, art and poetry in everything that the universe offers us every day.

Workshop

The whole practice of Brazilian magic, of African origins, revolves around two great forces: the Orixás and the Exús (related to the umbanda and candomblé) which, appropriately evoked, can be addressed to good or evil. These Entities, prompted by the right offer and by the use of ritual objects such as: candles, essences, various mixtures, help man to find and identify with an Orixá. The goal of the workshop is not to carry out a religious ritual, but to open our minds to the magical knowledge of these “characters”, of their powers as a sort of “theatrical” rite, based on incorporation.

CHANDRA

Chandra Costanza Coletti is an illustrator and Yoga teacher who lives and works in Rome. For more than ten years she has practiced intensely Kundalini Yoga and Sat Nam Rasayan, an ancient art of healing, and she is often asked what is the link between her illustrations of her and yogic practice. Chandra describes meditation as her creative engine and claims that her art stems from the experience of a deep state of silence. Maintaining and cultivating this sacred space day after day keeps it connected with an unlimited source of inspiration. This intuitive creativity flows in her personal projects, but also in the graphics she designs for clients, who often recognize in her images experiences of awareness and transformation.

Workshop

In this experience of individual and collective transformation we will modify our frequency and increase our projection capacity through the techniques of Yoga Kundalini as taught by Yogi Bhajan. We will begin by warming the body to untie the knots in the energy channels and allow the prana to flow unhindered. Then, using mudra (hand position), pranayama (breathing technique) and visualization, we will enter a deep meditative state and we will push ourselves to relate to our Self, in an intense and regenerating journey. This journey will take us to the source of our creative energy and stimulate our attitude to manifest, to share our gifts with the world in a relaxed and joyful way.

MIRIT WISSOTZKY

(1982 Israel), Graphic designer and visual artist, graduated in Visual Communication from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem (2008). In the last decade she lives and works between Bologna, Tel-Aviv and Florence. She is the co-founder of Dina&Solomon, a visual communication studio
that collaborates with clients in a vast range of fields, and thinks of
design as a form of relationship.Over the years she had developed and  conducted several visual design and creative thinking workshops for students and professionals as well as lectures at the University of Bologna, and created and curated cultural projects, exhibitions and installations within Griffo the Great Gala of Letters – the studio’s multidisciplinary ongoing project. Mirit have received international design awards such as Compasso d’Oro
Honourable Mention Award, Red Dot Design Award, European Design
Award and Vinitaly International Packaging Awards.
Since she emerged herself with Chianti nature a few years ago, she
practices and explores the art of Ikebana, the poetics & aesthetics of
organic-matter compositions, and observes her continuous mutual
transformation.

AUTUMN #2020

21-25 OCTOBER 2020 IN this period of the year we celebrate the fruits of the “harvest” and give thanks.

Field WAS a 5 dayS residencY MADE OF A GROUP OF 12 PEOPLE REUNITED IN GRASSE to celebrate the autumn focusING on the ritualS ACTIVITIES AND space construction. The idea of a “sacred”space is aimed by seeking an emotional response which is based on individual involvement in interacting with a group. The emergence of new ways of thinking and communicating, what is called the “Cognitive Revolution”, allowed groups to tell stories and elaborate abstract concepts such as legends, myths, gods and religions. The humans were thus able to develop closer and more sophisticated types of cooperation. INTERNATIONAL AUTHORS ARE CALLED TO COME WITH AN INTERACTION WORKSHOP IN A SERIES OF PERFORMANCE AND EXPERIMENTAL ACTIVITIES. WE UNFOLD TO AN HYBRID PATH THAT FOLLOWS THE VISION OF A FREE WORLD FROM VACUITY  RESPECTING THE EN VIRONMEN T AND THE MOS T SIMPLE AND PURE WAY OF LIVING IT AND INTERPRETING IT.

CLOROPHILLA

Clorophilla is the artist chosen to paint the interior of the chapel dedicated to the Moon. AfterMiro ‘, Cocteau and Picasso a new sacredplaceon the Riviera. Magic and alchemy. Chlorophyllisinspiredby Diana, goddessof hunting, virginity, archery..

During this period so difficult and full of uncertainty for many of us due to covid19, an artistic project of this kind would be hope for a better future. The link between spirituality and art has been continued for centuries. on this subject, here are the words of the second vatican council addressed to artists: «The World We Live In Needs Beauty In Order Not To Fall Into Despair. Beauty Like Truth Brings Joy To The Hearts Of Men, This Precious Fruit That Withstands The Wear Of Time And Unites Generations In Awe. And It Is Because Of Your Hands. » Ludovica

SARA RICCIARDI

A BUTO RITUAL RELATED TO THE EYE OF TRUTH

The sacredness of a cathedral, with colorful invitation rosettes on the facade, suggested the aesthetics of the work. Sacred place, gateway to the intimate, to the inner eye. Divine symbol that becomes magical when it breaks down the light into colors. A light of prayer and introspection.

ABOUT FIELD SHE SAID

“il “campo” e’ uno spazio libero, luogo di pascolo, terreno da coltivare, possibilista nel suo essere pianura accogliente. luogo di esercizio – da soli e insieme. il momento dove poter sperimentare con una serenità primitiva e una gioia bambinesca – dove i fiori nascono senza padroni. papaveri, erba, errorri e scambio.” Sara

TRISTAN GLASEL

DRAMATIC PERFORMATIVITY

Until fairly recently dramatic performance provided the paradigm of performance analysis; the salutary impact of the massive globalization of performance, and an energetic expan- sion of scholarly and critical practice in the fields of literary, theatre, and performance studies, have now displaced dramatic theatre as the paradigm of performance. This expansion of our ways of understand- ing and analyzing performance has had – or should have – critical consequences for our understanding of drama, both as a literary genre and on the stage. Although a corner of drama studies has usually been occupied by “performance criticism” and the stage history of plays, in the past three decades the discussion of dramatic performance has been innovated by the importing of methods from anthropology and ethnography, from the psychoanalytic semiotics of film and media studies, from critical practices derived from phenomenology, from the densely materialist consideration of performance practices in cul- tural studies, and even from a new attention to the ways the chang- ing character of printed texts changes the material “performance” of writing in history.

MAUD GASEL

NEUROSCIENCES AND ARCHITECTURE

The the idea is how to design when taking into consideration perception and the senses. Some time ago I made a little booklet with a lot of research, readings, and ideas. The workshop will consists in making sensitive maps of the environment around us, using personal medium (photo, drawing, collecting, color, sound…)

ABOUT FIELD SHE SAID

“Field is creation through federation. Valentina has a gift to make people come together and make art emerge.” Maud

GEORGES MOHASSEB

BACK TO THE NATURE

The workshop is all about discovering connections between the future and the present manifested through the five senses. At first, the artists are invited to observe, touch, and contemplate nature’s elements, each on his own. Each artist will be asked to pick an object from nature, something he wishes to research more, something that tells a story. Next, they are asked to transform this object into an artistic creation of their own, where each artist is provided with a plaster box. Their imagination will lead them into carving a new form, a new function, a new design of the chosen nature item. A transformation of a natural piece into art.

ABOUT FIELD HE SAID

“The spirituality of the site is the genesis to FEILD’s strong Roots. The cynergy among us and the Site triggered a very strong connection to earth, light, wind fire, the sky and the moon. An inspirational journey at VGO” Georges

GLADYS DE CAMBOURG

LES HYPERSENSIBLES AUX ONDES ELECTROMAGNETIQUES

«Modern man, as he is exhausted by the enormity of its technical means, is impoverished by the very excess of its wealth. » My intention is to propose to the public a modification of the relation to the world, which goes beyond digital technology to return to humans, sometimes perceived as a deficiency but which is the basis of collective strength. For that, it seems to me that it would be relevant to reconcile the two emotional sides that crystallize the times contemporaries: paranoia and the return of a certain mysticism.

THANOS ZAKOPOULOS

A NEW BALANCE

A few introductory thoughts on our need (now more than ever as it seems) to find a New Balance between humans and the rest of the natural world. It is at the same time an invitation to a dialogue between diverse disciplines in order to create a new Hybrid Future based on awareness.

We are all living on and taking from thisplanet anything we desire but we give almost nothing back, apart from our corpses when we die or our excrements -which are though polluted by chemicals from the water we use to flush Them down. In doing so we are risking to lose much more than our comfortable lives and I am referring of course to us, the lucky ones that don’t really have to worry about our everydaysurvival.

NICOLE VALENTI

MABON – THE AUTUMNAL CEREMONY

With autumn, we celebrate the harvest, the alchemical process of transforming grapes into wine. The ancients held this process sacred. During the feast of the Mabon, symbolic bonfires were lit using dry leaves and brushwood collected in the garden, an incense made up of a mixture of hibiscus, myrrh, rose petals and sage was burned inside the fire. In the harvest festivals, symbolic objects were also made, such as the Dolls of Wheat, formed by the last ears collected and tied with a red thread. These objects then had to be burned. Particular importance in this celebration was reserved at the time of meals, the table was set with dark red tablecloths and napkins, with candles of the same color or brown.

PABLO SAAVEDRA DE DECKER

DANCE EXORCISM

SERENA CANCELLIER

“AIR DU TEMPLES”

Serena takes inspiration from nature and from ancestral healing symbols, invoke ancient remembering insight humans. All the pieces have their soul, designed to become a tool to warm our daily life. An avid collector of ‘objets trouves’ like pinecones, bones , worn stones, and a nautilus shells that gave direction to an imagination that alone might not be able to detect.

How much wonder can be hidden behind every object of our daily life? The “Air du temples” workshop focuses on the creative and meditative act of building a temple. It will be a temple dedicated to a common object, whose aesthetic and emotional value we usually ignore. It will appear new and wonderful to us. The set of reflections, time and gestures used to create our temple will take root in us a new awareness: the world is full of wonders in every corner and moment. And we will thank him. We will look at it with new eyes. And we will be amazed day after day of what it has in store for us.

THE CURATOR’S LETTER

«This life journey invites us to listen. A non-trivial process, which brings with it various critical issues. Listening does not mean using our ears but on the contrary all the senses that nature has endowed us with. In fact, organs are tools that help us make good use of our faculties. But do we really know what it means to “feel”? The sense, from the Latin Sens-sensorum, is a POWER, a PERCEPTION, a THROUGH between us and the world. So what will suddenly reveal itself to us is the need to abandon prejudice, or the form of impure knowledge that drives our minds through fictitious understanding schemes, typical of the deterministic thinking of the civilizations in which we live, to embrace a modality that I would call INTERACTIVE. It is therefore urgent to put aside one’s EGO and get closer to a deep awareness that puts us in contact with our true nature, making us capable of great expressions of joy and pain, rediscovered creativity, transcendental inspiration, power of being. If we manage to bring all of this back into relationships with other human beings, something incredible can be born. The VGO ASSOCIATES Residences project is designed for artists who are able to share their knowledge and their feelings about what concerns today and tomorrow, putting aside the ego and trying to get in touch with themselves and the others.»
